Andrew Jackson Middle, Band and Music Teacher: Meg Lancaster

Today is #TeacherFeatureWednesday, and the St. Bernard Parish School Board would like to salute Meg Lancaster, band and chorus teacher at Andrew Jackson Middle.

“Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Ms. Lancaster besides the actual class and academic side of things.  On a personal level she has always been there for me, no matter how absurd my problems or whatever was going on.  She was always there for me.  She is definitely one of my favorite teachers from AJ, and after I graduate in about a month I will definitely miss her.  In band class she has helped me so much over the past three years that I’ve been with her.  Sometimes she will call you out individually and have you play a part of a song just to make sure that you play it right.  She will challenge you, but she does everything out of love.  If you played something wrong, she would talk to just you and try to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.  She has helped me so much throughout these three years.  I’m going to miss her, and she is one of my favorite teachers.”

“Ms. Lancaster is a wonderful chorus and band teacher who is willing to go above and beyond for her students.  I always enjoy attending our school’s concerts, and I’m always amazed at the amount of progress our students make during their three years of middle school.  My favorite performance was the advanced band playing the theme from ‘Mission: Impossible.’  I sure hope there’s a repeat performance at this year’s spring concert.”
