St. Bernard Parish Public School System Celebrates Chalmette High’s Class of 2024

The Bobby Nuss Stadium was packed when the Chalmette High’s Class of 2024 donned their caps and gowns and officially walked into the next chapter of their lives. Warm evening sunlight and a pleasant breeze were the perfect backdrop for the celebration, hinting at long summer days and adventures to come as these graduates make their way out into the world.

The event kicked off with the procession of Class Officers and Honor Graduates to the stage, followed by a warm welcome from Master of Ceremonies and Senior Class President Carlos Andrade. Senior Class Treasurer Alex Jorns read the Invocation, followed by the AFJROTC’s Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem, performed by CHS chorus and band. Demirion Woods, Senior Class Recording Secretary, led the Pledge of Allegiance before handing the mic to Senior Class Vice President Ava Gagliano, who introduced the onstage guests.

Lt. Colonel Michael Pechon, representing J. Claude Meraux American Legion Post 360 Chalmette, presented the American Legion Award to Troy Sino, given to a student who possesses the qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.

Superintendent Doris Voitier then addressed the seniors, congratulating them on a successful year and reflecting on how far they’ve come. “Today, you stand on the threshold of a new chapter, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained during your time at Chalmette High School.” Ms. Voitier reminded the seniors that their perseverance and dedication will lead them in their respective journeys. She also ended with this reminder. “Remember - you are loved and you will always have a place here because you are — and will always be — a part of our Owl family.”
