Maumus Center Gears up for Science Summer Camp

Maumus Center Gears up for Science Summer Camp

The Maumus Center and Planetarium invites all students and young explorers entering 1st-5th grade to take part in its month-long STEAM CAMP.  Youngsters can spend each day in June engaged in experiences focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Alisha Capstick, the planetarium director, said this is the first year the camp has included art activities.  “Including the arts into STEM helps develop creative problem solving and really aligns  with all of  the hands-on activities already in place,” she said. “Throughout the month of June, our young scientists, inventors and explorers will unleash their creativity through a variety of projects, experiments, and of course, daily planetarium shows.”

Capstick, who was also named as the Louisiana Science Teacher of the Year, said the summer camp also stresses the power of teamwork and collaboration where young kids learn, laugh, and grow while making new friends. “The fun and learning will be  launching soon, and we invite you to be part of our stellar crew.”

She was also quick to remind everyone that while space is infinite in outer space, it’s  limited here. Register for your desired dates and complet payment to  secure a spot to blast off into fun in this OUT OF THIS WORLD opportunity.
