St. Bernard Parish Public School System Announces Students of the Year

The St. Bernard Parish Public School System recently announced its school-level Students of the Year. This honor recognizes academic excellence, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and citizenship. These eleven students will compete at the district level when a panel of community leaders and educators conduct interviews to select an elementary, middle, and high school district winner. Those winners then compete for statewide consideration.  One of last year’s district winners, Jack McMullin, was also named as Louisiana’s Elementary Student of the Year.  Congratulations to this year’s winners.

Superintendent Doris Voitier said this year’s winners are indicative of the excellent instruction taking place each day in classrooms across the district.

"These outstanding students really represent all of the best - in and out of the classroom,” she said. "We know none of their success is possible without our amazing teachers and the support of our school families. We are grateful for them and know that our students are great examples of parish pride and our ongoing legacy of learning.” 

St. Bernard Parish School Board President Diana Dysart said meeting these school winners is always a highlight for the board members. "These students are a great reminder of why we do what we do,” she said. "Their academic excellence, school spirit, community involvement, and leadership are truly exemplary.  We are grateful to have so many amazing young people and role models in our schools, and we know they will represent their schools proudly.”
