Three New Members Sworn in During School Board Member Recognition Month

Chalmette, LA - Three new board members were sworn in at Tuesday night’s St. Bernard Parish School Board meeting. Joining the board are Henry Rodriguez III, representing District 2, Millie M. Harris, representing District 8, and Keisa M. Rodney, representing District 9. 2023 St. Bernard School Board members include:

  • Mrs. Katherine Lemoine, District 1

  • Mr. Henry J. Rodriguez III, District 2

  • Mrs. Kelly Le-Bowman, District 3

  • Mr. Sean K. Warner, District 4

  • Mr. Joseph “Joe” V. Long, District 5

  • Ms. Carly Jackson, District 6

  • Mrs. Diana Dysart, Vice President, District 7

  • Mrs. Millie M. Harris, District 8

  • Mrs. Keisa M. Rodney, District 9

  • Mrs. Rosiland White, District 10

  • Mr. Donald “Don” Campbell, District 11

Janet Pope, the Executive Director of the Louisiana School Boards Association welcomed the new members and congratulated those who returned to serve another term.

“School boards are essential to a strong public education system,” she said. “They provide the local governance and oversight that makes it possible for school districts to serve students, including establishing a strategic plan, adopting policies, approving a budget, and selecting and evaluating a superintendent. It’s fitting that we celebrate them in January as their leadership is key to the success of every school district in Louisiana.”

LSBA Board President Patricia Russo echoed those thoughts.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to honor our school board members and let the communities they serve know about their many contributions,” she said.

In recognition of St. Bernard Parish School Board’s accomplishments, the Board will adopt LSBA’s Code of Conduct and Parish President Guy McInnis will officially proclaim January as School Board Member Recognition Month.

“Over the years, our school board members have been selfless volunteers who spend long hours working to ensure all of our students have the opportunity to learn and grow,” Superintendent Doris Voitier said. “Celebrating School Board Member Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do.”
