Academic Games Season Kicks Off at Maumus Center

Chalmette, LA - The Maumus Center in Old Arabi was the site for a recent academic competition when St. Bernard Parish Public School students took part in On-Sets and Propaganda, two of the four games that make up the Academic Games season.

On-Sets is a math game based on Set Theory, while Propaganda tests students’ listening and critical thinking skills and their understanding of persuasion techniques.

Tournament organizer Gena Asevado said Academic Games recognizes academic excellence just like other awards recognize athletic achievement.

“We are so thankful to our coaches and players for their commitment to the Games,” she said. “The amount of practice and preparation is a big part of our program, and we are proud of everyone who took part.”
