Women’s Professional Network Hosts Second Mentor Event at Chalmette High School
Chalmette, LA - The St. Bernard Chamber’s Women’s Professional Network (WPN) held its second annual mentor event at Chalmette High School’s library earlier this week focused on the benefits, pitfalls, and strategies of using social media.
The morning began with a panel discussion and an overview of social media and the importance of using it as a positive, branding approach to a career. Then, the female professionals from a wide array of careers and business backgrounds were matched with small groups of female students from Chalmette High School who share similar career goals.
Elizabeth Dauterive, the CEO of the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce, Lisa Borne Kott, the 2022 Chair of WPN, and Aleen LeBoeuf, the CTE Coordinator for St. Bernard Parish Public Schools, planned the event with support from the school system.
Doris Voiter, the Superintendent of the St. Bernard Public Schools, served as one of the mentors for the morning program.
“It was nice to host the WPN and to have its members networking with our students here at Chalmette High School,” she said. “It is always enjoyable to see the potential and the enthusiasm of the next generation. And like any teacher dealing with young people, you learn from them just as you are sharing your own career path and experiences. It was a wonderful morning, and we were so happy to have board members Katherine Lemoine and Carly Jackson and so many of our community partners joining us here today.”
