CHS Senior Soiree

Chalmette, LA - Under the dazzling oaks and twinkling lights of Docville Farm, the Chalmette High School class of 2021 was recently invited to gather together for an end-of-year event unlike any other. The Senior Soiree was a night to celebrate the end of high school and award Annual Titles to some of its accomplished members in a Covid-safe space.

The event was the culmination of cooperative planning between the senior class officers, school administrators, and senior class sponsors, along with the generosity of the Meraux Foundation.

Lynda Rost, a math teacher at CHS and one of the senior class sponsors, said the event was truly student-led.

"I'm so proud of the accomplishments of this year's senior class officers,” Rost said. “They visualized and helped plan the Senior Soiree, and it was wonderful to see the seniors together enjoying this event on such a beautiful night.”

Class officers who helped lead the planning of the event include: Emma Nunez, president; Katie Tran, vice president; Joy Wang, recording secretary; Dallas Blackmore, corresponding secretary; and Ariana Rojas, treasurer.

One of the highlights of the Senior Soiree was the announcement of the much-anticipated Annual Titles for 2021. The title winners were selected by their peers through a nomination and voting process.

This year’s title winners were:

Emma Nunez, Miss CHS; Dallas Blackmore, Mr. CHS; Melanie Corral, Most Intelligent Girl; Scott Truong, Most Intelligent Boy; Ashley Dourrieu, Most Athletic Girl; Darrius Sanchez, Most Athletic Boy; Chloe Bordelon, Most Likely to Succeed Girl; and Marco Spicuzza, Most Likely to Succeed Boy.

Principal Wayne Warner said it was a truly special night and that the seniors deserved to celebrate an important milestone despite an unusual year amid the pandemic.

“The Senior Soiree was a pleasant way to close out a very chaotic senior year for them,” Rost agreed. “It was important to both them and to the faculty and administration at CHS that the seniors have this experience."
