Chalmette, LA - The CHS Fighting Owls football team finally returned to the field on October 2 for their season opener and annual rival game against Holy Cross School at Bobby Nuss Stadium. While the team came up short on the scoreboard, the night was one of small victories in reclaiming Owl pride and normalcy in the face of Covid19 restrictions.
In addition to football, spectators were treated to watching the CHS cheerleaders on the sidelines and the Charmers in the stands perform to the sounds of the Fighting Owl Band once again.
Jill Mitchell, director of the Charmers, said the game was an important one for showcasing spirit and togetherness.
“I know that the Charmers were extremely eager and excited to get back to Friday Night Lights,” she said. “It was nice for both the girls and for me to have a sense of normal school activities.”
The Fighting Owls will continue their season with Senior Night, which has been rescheduled for Friday, October 23 at Bobby Nuss. Tickets are $10 and will be available on the school’s website.
