CHS Volleyball Coach Kelli Plascia Earns 700th Win
Kelli Plaiscia, Chalmette High School’s veteran volleyball coach, achieved a remarkable feat recently – earning her 700th career win in a victory over St. Martin.
Plaiscia has coached at CHS for over 30 years and this latest milestone is a testament to her commitment to her team and her community.
She said she was overwhelmed by the support of her extended Owl family.
“When we got to match point, I started to cry,” she recalled. “It was wonderful to have family, friends, and ex-players there. They are the reason we were able to get 700 wins. It was a moment I will never forget.”
Plaiscia said there is something else that makes this accomplishment so special. “All of the wins and successes have been at Chalmette High.”
With 13 district championships during her tenure, Plaiscia is respected throughout the state as one of the best teachers and coaches in the game. In fact, many of her former players lead high-powered programs across the state.
CHS Athletic Director David Brossette said Plaiscia’s program is one of excellence.
“During her 31 years here at CHS, Kelli had molded and coached so many young woman who have gone on to play at universities and even become coaches themselves,” he said. “Her record and success makes us all proud to be Owls.”
Principal Wayne Warner applauded Plaiscia and called her an Owl through and through.
“She is an integral part of the fabric of our school culture,” he said. “She has been with us through our best times and our darkest times, and through it all she has been such a light to our young woman. We congratulate her on this impressive milestone and are so grateful to call her one of our own.”
The Lady Owls’ next home game is against Mount Carmel on October 17 starting at 5:30 P.M. Contact the school at 504-301-2600 for more information.
