71st Annual CHS Homecoming Set for October 26

The 71st annual Chalmette High School Homecoming festivities will take place the weekend of October 26. Friday night, the Fighting Owls will be taking on the Bonnabel Bruins at 7:00 P.M. at the Bobby Nuss Stadium. The traditional homecoming court of nine young women, dressed in suits, hats, and gloves, will be escorted into the stadium by CHS alumni.  At halftime these young women will be presented at midfield, accompanied by their fathers or grandfathers.

This year’s court includes Queen Dejanae’ Thompson, and Maids Madison Bastoe, Abigale Licciardi, Alexis Gonzales, Jaida Alphonso, Jy'Jay Johnson, Alondra Lombongtare, Calina Loescher, and Zipporah Singleton.

Jill Schofield, CHS alum and Homecoming Coordinator and Instructional Coach at the high school, coordinates all of the homecoming activities.  She is excited about this year’s court.

“My ultimate goal for each of these ladies is that they walk away from Homecoming having had an amazing experience, and these girls are making the hard work that it takes worth it,” she said.  “They are a wonderful group of ladies who will represent Chalmette High School and all of its Homecoming traditions with pride.”

The following night, the court will be presented to the student body at the Homecoming Dance. The ladies will be escorted at the dance by male classmates who were nominated based on their involvement and commitment to organizations at CHS.
This year’s escorts are Scotty Thornton, August Alexander, Lukas Caruso, Ronnie Prestenbach, Glen Palmisano, Tim Harrison, Jacob Powell, Aiden Elder, and Dylan Meredith.

For over 70 years, Homecoming has been a positive and memorable experience for Chalmette High School students.  Chalmette High School Principal Wayne Warner said these kinds of events are what the high school experience is all about.
“Being a teenager can be a tough time, but when you see all of the school pride and enthusiasm surrounding these festivities, it really has a unifying effect on our school,” Warner said.  “I’m really proud to see our school traditions continue to flourish.”
