Seven Students Receive Cox Inspirational Heroes Awards

Seven St. Bernard Parish School District students were recognized for overcoming adversity and living meaningful, productive lives at the New Orleans’ 26th Annual Cox Inspirational Heroes Awards and Recognition Ceremony held recently at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.

The seven students Tyshae Brady of Davies Elementary, Jayda Douglas of Smith Elementary, Daniel Fonseca of Chalmette Elementary, Evan Gonzales of Lacoste Elementary, Bridget Hohensee of Chalmette High, Landen Meredith of Arabi Elementary, and Jasmine Ramos of Trist Middle exemplify resilience and perseverance.

Cheramie Kerth, Supervisor of Special Education for St. Bernard Parish Schools, one of the speakers at the event, said each student was deserving of the recognition.

“The students have unique talents and with the encouragement from their teachers, peers, and parents can accomplish anything they set their mind to,” Kerth said.

She also thanked the Cox Inspirational Heroes Program for their commitment to the students of St. Bernard Parish and the surrounding area.

“The Cox Inspirational Heroes Program has been recognizing the students of our parish for 26 years for their special talents in and out of the classroom. That type of recognition is appreciated by our school system and our families.  We appreciate such strong, community support.”
