Lieutenant Colonel David Farley to Lead JROTC at CHS

Lieutenant Colonel David Farley, an educator and leader with a wealth of experience, was recently appointed to lead the JROTC program at Chalmette High School.

Farley graduated and was commissioned through Air Force ROTC from the University of South Alabama. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and in Health Education. He also earned his Master's Degree in Business from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

A combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, Farley has also had tours throughout the United States, including stops in California, Wyoming, Florida, Colorado, and Washington, DC.

His goal is to build the JROTC program at CHS, shaping young men and women into responsible and respectable students. Farley said he wants to help the 90 cadets under his command achieve their true potential in reaching their goals.

“Cadets who are enrolled in the AFJROTC program develop confidence, self-discipline, self-reliance, and learn to work together as a team,” he said. “In addition to the academic program which teaches Leadership and Life Skills, Aerospace History, and Aerospace Science, the students also benefit from leadership opportunities, attending a summer Cadet Leadership Course and receiving academic credit for the course.”

A true family man, Farley has been married for 23 years and has three children. CHS principal Wayne Warner said the school and community are lucky to have Farley on staff.

We are fortunate to have Lt. Col. David Farley here at Chalmette High School,” Warner said. “He exemplifies all of the good things we try to instill here. We appreciate his commitment to fostering leadership, character, and community service into our students and welcome him to our parish.”
