The Chalmette Owls recently welcomed Devon Jefferson Sr., who brings more than 20 years of experience as an educator and basketball coach, to the Owl Family as their new Head Basketball Coach. Jefferson has dedicated his career to developing young people both in the classroom and on the court. His experience working with special needs students has helped shape his coaching approach, developing the patience, compassion, and understanding that have become hallmarks of his leadership style.

Known for his calm demeanor and ability to build meaningful relationships, Coach Jefferson has earned the respect of students, players, parents, and colleagues alike. He believes basketball is more than a sport, it is a blueprint for life. His coaching philosophy centers on using the game to teach responsibility, sacrifice, discipline, hard work, and perseverance while helping student-athletes become productive young men of character.

Throughout his career, Coach Jefferson has been recognized for his ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential. He has built programs focused on character development, competitive excellence, academic achievement, and community pride. CHS Principal Will Schneider said Coach Jefferson's experience and commitment to developing young people make him an outstanding addition to the Owl Family. "Coach Jefferson has spent more than two decades mentoring student-athletes and helping them grow both on and off the court," he said. "We're excited to welcome him to the Home of the Owls and know his leadership will have a lasting impact on our basketball program and our students."

For Coach Jefferson, success is measured not only by wins and championships, but by the lasting impact he has on the lives of the young men he serves. His mission is to prepare student-athletes for success in basketball, in the classroom, and in life.
