Summer Swim Program Registration 2025

St. Bernard Parish Public Schools

Current 1st-5th Grade Students

The St. Bernard Parish School Board will offer swimming lessons at our Chalmette High School Swimming Pool this summer to current 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th graders who reside in St. Bernard Parish. Each session consists of 9 one-hour swim classes, and we will offer two sessions, May 27^th – June 6^th and June 9^th – 20^th. Please note we will not have swim lessons on the holidays, May 26^th for Memorial Day and June 19^th for Juneteenth. Classes are taught by certified water safety Instructors, and a certified lifeguard will be on duty. There is a $75 charge per session to offset the costs of pool maintenance and swim staff. Lessons will be scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis, beginning with 5^th graders, until all slots are filled.

Parents cannot attend lessons with their children

as this creates a distraction and can present a safety hazard during class time.

Parents are responsible for transportation to and from swim class.

After receiving a confirmation of submission message, please bring your $75 payment (cash or money order), by Monday, May 12^th to the St. Bernard Parish School Board Office at 200 East St. Bernard Hwy between the hours of 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. A copy of natatorium rules is at the end of this registration, and will be sent to your inbox upon submission of registration. You will be notified by phone or email, if applicable, as to whether or not your child is enrolled in the swim program and for which session they are scheduled.

Chalmette High School Natatorium Regulations

1. Obey teachers and lifeguards at all times.

If a student continually refuses to follow class rules, he/she will be removed from the swim program.

2. Every swimmer must wear a swim cap.

Swim caps can be brought from home or purchased for $1.00 at the pool.

3. Every swimmer must wear appropriate swim attire.

Girls in 4^th-5^th grades should wear a one-piece swimsuit. Those swimmers with religious concerns regarding modesty may wear clean, snug-fitting, covering garments that do not interfere with their safety in the water. Any T-shirt must be white and all fabrics should be fade-resistant.

4. Swimmers will take a swim test on the 1^st day to determine the appropriate swim level class.

5. Candy, food, chewing gum, beverages, and food products of any kind are not allowed in the natatorium.

6. Glass items are not permitted anywhere in the facility.

7. Students must bring a clean towel each day.

Students will shower before they enter the pool and after lessons.

8. Please label all items your child brings to the pool.

Towels, beach bags, underwear, socks, etc., should be labeled. A swimsuit should be worn under clothing on the day of swim lessons.

9. Swim goggles are permitted. Eye masks that cover the nose are not permitted. Nose clips are not permitted.

10. Students may wear flip-flops on the deck and in the shower rooms.

11. No make-up days will be scheduled for any student.

12. Students with certain physical conditions, such as ringworm, open cuts, rashes, or lice may not swim until the conditions clear.

13. Parents may not be in the natatorium during swim lessons.

Terms of Service

I understand that there is a fee of $75 per swimmer and that I must deliver this payment (cash or money order) to the School Board Office no later than May 12th, 2025 for my registration to be complete.
