Degrees and Certifications:
BS- Secondary Education
I'm Ms. S. I am so excited about starting my first year teaching at Chalmette High School! I grew up in Florida, got my associate degree at St. Petersburg College, and then booked it across state lines to get my bachelor's degree at the University of New Orleans. Over the course of the last year, I was lucky enough to complete my student teaching under David Bellard, here at Chalmette High. During that time, I spent every second learning how to grow into the best educator I could be. This year I will be teaching English II and cannot wait to see how each and every student (as well as myself) grows emotionally, socially, and academically.
As an English teacher, of course, I love to read and write. When given the opportunity, chances are that I'm either reading an enchanting young adult novel, or using poetry to express how I feel. Although, those can't be the ONLY hobbies a teacher has, right? I also love longboarding (even though the potholes make it difficult), competitive swimming, football, plants, and funky looking rocks. Most importantly, I am all about mental health healing/maintenance, a growth mindset, and a willingness to keep trying. Hopefully, throughout this year my students and myself can embody these mindsets to make the most of the time we have together!
