Christina Sanders

Ms. Sanders was born in New Orleans, Louisiana; but spent most of her life near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A lifelong athlete, musician, and thespian, Ms. Sanders graduated from high school in 2015, and earned her degree in Sociology and African American Studies at The Pennsylvania State University in 2019. While attending The Pennsylvania State University, Ms. Sanders worked at a Civil Rights and Restorative Justice law clinic in Boston, Massachusetts, volunteered for a dual-purpose orphanage/school in Nairobi, Kenya, and collaborated with schools across open and closed reservations throughout the Red Lake Nation in Bemidji, Minnesota to enhance education for Native American students. Due to these experiences, she also studied Swahili and Ojibwemowin--a Native American dialect. Furthermore, Ms. Sanders is an avid believer in the power of statistical data/mathematics, and has earned her CITI certification in statistical human research trials and is working towards her Masters degree online. Despite the great memories she has obtained throughout her travels, Ms. Sanders always planned to come back home to Louisiana, and is delighted to spread her love of mathematics, community, and education with the inclusion students of Technical Math & Algebra 1 at the Freshman Academy.

This is Ms. Sanders' first year at Chalmette High, and she hopes to inspire all of her students to explore the real-world applications of mathematics, to always be curious, and to never stop asking questions!
