Mrs. Whitney Asevado
Whitney Asevado was born and raised in St. Bernard parish. Although her high school journey was interrupted by Hurricane Katrina, she was able to graduate from Chalmette High in 2008 due to the amazing work of St. Bernard Parish Schools. She earned her Bachelor's degree in 2013 from the University of Holy Cross, and she immediately dove into the classroom. During her teaching career, she has taught ELA, mathematics, and science as well as coached sports, sponsored many clubs, produced plays, and is always an advocate for all students. In 2018, she attended the American College of Education to receive her Master's in Educational Leadership in 2020. Mrs. Asevado is always looking for ways to learn and better herself in and out of the classroom.
Mrs. Asevado still lives in St. Bernard with her family. She is happily married with four children, two dogs, and a cat. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling in their RV, and going to Disney World.
This year at SBM Mrs. Asevado is teaching 6th-grade mathematics for the second year. In the past years, she has taught ELA, Science, and vocabulary. She taught ELA for the majority of her career in grades 4-8, but Mrs. Asevado saw a need in mathematics. She made the jump last school year. She is excited about teaching math and helping her students understand and love the subject.
In addition to teaching, Mrs. Asevado plans to lead the drama club (aka Curtain Call) and coach softball. She is devoted to her school and students as well as the community she services.
