Ms. Kaylyn Martin

Ms. Martin is a Biology I, Biology II, and Introduction to Health Occupations teacher at Chalmette High School. Born and raised most of her life in St. Bernard Parish, she currently lives in New Orleans. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA, and received a B.S. in Biology. She attended Louisiana State University in Shreveport and received an M.Ed in STEM Curriculum and Instruction.

She has always had a love for helping people learn and science. Before coming to teach at Chalmette High, Ms. Martin lived and taught English as a second language in South Korea. After returning home, she became a certified teacher through the Teach St. Bernard program to combine the two passions in her life: teaching and science. She has been teaching at Chalmette High School for 3 years and loves to help students uncover the mysteries of the world around them.

Ms. Martin believes that education, especially science education, should be a fun, exciting, and hands-on experience that sparks curiosity and wonder. She is dedicated to teaching students in a unique way that encourages them to ask questions, think outside the box, and be led to their own conclusions. She is excited to be on this learning journey with each and every student!

In her spare time, Ms. Martin loves to attend events around New Orleans, spend time with family and friends, watch documentaries, read books, and embroider.
