Ms. Sheri Roberts

Ms. Roberts teaches English 3 in Room 238. She is a Savannah, Georgia native and has lived in the New Orleans area since 2015. She fell in love with St. Bernard Parish because it reminds her of home- where everyone knows each other and life is just a bit slower than than a larger city. Her most memorable teacher was Ms. Braun, an English teacher she had in the 11th grade. The thing that sticks out is how Ms. Braun challenged her and helped her take risks when writing or reading. Ms. Braun selected books for each student to read and she required Ms. Roberts to read a 983 page book, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. This accomplishment made Ms. Roberts want to read more. She hopes to leave that kind of memory in the minds of her students. Upon graduating high school, Ms. Roberts served 4 years in the Air Force, where she lived in Ft. Walton Beach, FL and earned a Combat Expeditionary Medal and NATO Humanitarian Award. After those adventures, she spent several years working for the military, then teaching freshmen college courses. She began teaching at Chalmette High School in the 2017-2018 school year. In her free time, Ms. Roberts loves sports and goes to as many football and baseball games as she can, especially if they are college games. She loves to be outside and go to the beach.
