Mrs. Tanishia Tinson

Mrs. Tanishia Tinson is very excited to bring her enthusiasm and love for learning to the students of St. Bernard Middle as the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Special Education Self-Contained Teacher. During her career, that spans two decades, she has taught elementary and middle grades for the Avoyelles Parish and Orleans Parish School Systems.
She has always wanted to be a teacher from a very young age because of the positive influence that many of her teachers had over her life. She chose to believe in the many motivational sayings that her teachers spoke into her life and she chooses to pass that legacy on to future generations through rigorous, tailored and thoughtful educational experiences. As a young woman at Saint Mary’s Academy in New Orleans, she was taught through many unique and cultural experiences to believe in herself, do everything with excellence, and to treat others as she would love to be treated. Though many of these ideals seem cliché in today’s time, Mrs. Tinson believes that we must not forget the etiquette of yester-year just because the world is technologically advanced.
In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of New Orleans. After years building her classroom experience, she pursued her degree in Educational Administration. She earned her Masters of Arts from Grand Canyon University in 2014.
In her personal time, she enjoys traveling to the places that she reads about in the many historical books that she enjoys. She also loves to hang out with family and friends, volunteer, and look at documentaries.
Her hope for this year is to provide her students with the differentiation and caring confidence they need to meet their personal goals.
