Mrs. Alison Bourgeois

Mrs. Bourgeois is the co-3rd and 4th grade resource teacher at Meraux Elementary. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in both elementary and special education. Mrs. Bourgeois previously taught third and fourth grade math, science, and social studies in Zachary, LA and fourth and fifth grade resource at Meraux Elementary. This is her fourth year teaching in St. Bernard parish.

Fostering a caring and respectful classroom community is important to Mrs. Bourgeois. She is a firm believer in the importance of structure and consistency in her class. She also knows that students need to understand that they are cared for and accepted as a member of the classroom community. One of Ms. Bourgeois’ goals is for her students to do their best and see the value in all that they do.

Since she was a young girl, she has had a love of learning and teaching. She played school as a child, tutored elementary school kids while she was in high school, and majored in education in college. She loves seeing that "AHA" moment occur when students understand what is being taught. She knows this year will be one full of growth and learning.
