Mrs. Sweat (formerly Ms. Nations) is a graduate from the University of New Orleans, where she received her Master of Arts in Teaching for grades 1-5. As of 2023, Mrs. Sweat finished Tulane University's TEL add-on certification course to better prepare to teach multi-lingual learners of English in the classroom. She gained an immense appreciation for the vital role literacy plays in our lives after working with YMCA Educational Services in New Orleans, helping adults acquire basic literacy skills. After witnessing the struggle people experience who lack the skills for reading and writing, Mrs. Sweat felt she wanted to be part of a change and work to help break the cycle of illiteracy.
Mrs. Sweat believes that a love for learning begins early, and she is very excited to undertake another year of teaching, where she hopes to help foster that love within her 3rd grade class. She is a firm believer that there is nothing that can take you the places in life that knowledge can!
In her free time, Mrs. Sweat enjoys many hobbies! Reading is (obviously) at the top of the list. In addition to reading, listening to music and playing video games are favored hobbies. She also enjoys learning and practicing American Sign Language and Spanish. And, if you ask anyone that knows her, she is obsessed with cats.
