What is a Kiwanis Kid (K-Kid)?
A K-Kid is a kid who has a heart to serve. When students have a heart to serve, they begin to make service a part of their character and a part of their daily life. K-Kids at Chalmette Elementary will be involved in many aspects of serving the community and our school.
K-Kids will meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. The first meeting will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 3:40 -4:45.
An on-going initiative of K-Kids is to be involved and serving others. Each month, the K-Kids will sponsor a collection of items to be donated to local charities. A proposed schedule of events and collection items has been devised to support the efforts of K-Kids:
October-Breast Cancer Awareness Month (K-Kids will sponsor a Pink Ribbon Sale during the month)
November- K-Kids will sponsor a Food Drive
December-K-Kids will sponsor the annual Children’s Hospital Bear Sale in conjunction with a Toy Drive
February-Mardi Gras Bead Collection
March-Mardi Gras Bead Collection Continues
April- Snack sale to benefit Teacher Appreciation Week
