Eric Durr

Freshman Counselor

In the words of the indomitable Charlie Brown, "In the book of life, the answers aren't in the back". Chalmette High School's 9th grade Guidance Counselor, Eric Durr, interprets this quote as, "everyone needs a little help at times," and Mr. Durr is happy to be one of the many individuals at Chalmette High School that is able to assist students with the ups-and-downs of life as a teen. Mr. Durr is a former Earth Science teacher and has been the 9th grade Counselor at Chalmette High School since the 2008-09 school year. He has earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Our Lady of Holy Cross College (now known as the University of Holy Cross). Eric is also a proud husband of a Chalmette High School graduate and is a resident within the St. Bernard community. Along with addressing the academic needs of CHS students, Mr. Durr is available to provide guidance for students in need of emotional, social, and familial support. Providing support for students as they enter high school is paramount, as the ninth grade year is truly the foundation upon which our students can build an academic and/or career identity along with strong character development. Mr. Durr hopes to provide invaluable information to students spanning a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to: grades, attendance, class scheduling, career and/or college interests, social skills growth, problem-solving, positive communication, and student safety.
