Mrs. Angelique Diaz
Mrs. Diaz is the school librarian for Gauthier Elementary. She grew up in and attended St. Bernard Parish schools high school. She received a Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Louisiana State University. She has also received a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from LSU. Additionally, she has completed a Graduate Certificate in School Librarianship and completed the specialization track for all youth services related librarianship.
As a librarian, Mrs. Diaz has a passion for great books, with a special interest in children’s literature of all genres. She is excited to be sharing both classics and new releases with the students this year and hopes to make each child a life-long reader. She is also excited to teach your children valuable lifelong skills in areas of research and information literacy. She can be contacted through the school for recommendations on age appropriate books, movies/television programs, podcasts, websites, games, and other media resources.
Mrs. Diaz welcomes parent involvement in the school library. Parents are a key component in encouraging their children’s comprehension skills and love of reading. Parents are also instrumental in building a unique collection of literacy resources that will meet the needs of our community through materials suggestions and comments.
Mrs. Diaz lives with her family in Slidell, Louisiana. She is married to Walter Diaz. Together they have one son, Daniel, two dogs (Freya and Gabbie), and one cat (Fireball). When not reading the latest new releases, Mrs. Diaz enjoys sewing, gardening, and playing games with her family.
