Mrs. Brandy Tucker
Brandy Tucker is a fourth grade teacher at Joseph J. Davies Elementary. She was born and raised in St. Bernard Parish. Mrs. Tucker is a mother to a blended family of nine children and is the wife of Coach Jason Tucker, of Chalmette High School. Four of their children are students at Davies. She proudly attended St. Bernard Parish Public Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. She started her career teaching 4th grade at the same school she attended in Violet, Borgnemouth Elementary. Once it closed, she happily taught at W. Smith Elementary. She transferred to Plaquemines Parish Public Schools for several years where she taught 4th grade and kindergarten. In 2004, she was blessed with the opportunity to become the next principal of Lynn Oaks School. With the devotion of parents, she helped quadruple the enrollment from 98 to 407 students in less than 6 months. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina relocated her to Texas. She took off the next 6 years to raise her children. Once they graduated from kindergarten, Brandy excitedly returned to what she was born to do, teaching and loving children. She then became employed by the St. Tammany Parish Public Schools, where she taught 5th grade and 6th grade in Slidell. Next, she followed her heart and finally returned home to St. Bernard Parish.
Mrs. Tucker graduated from Nunez Community College with an Associates in Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She also graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Educational Leadership. She started working toward her doctoral degree in Education but decided to focus on motherhood. She has numerous certifications, but the one closest to her heart is her Montessori Certification which reminds her, "Of all things you can do or give a child, LOVE is the most potent."
Mrs. Tucker believes ALL children can learn. She incorporates music and movement daily throughout her lessons. She has proven that with attention and love, any child can flourish. She believes in looking in every child's eyes and saying every child's name every day. One of her favorite quotes is, "If you can't teach children the way they learn, then learn the way to teach them." No child will ever be left behind in Mrs. Tucker's class.
