Mr. Robert Strauss

Robert Strauss has been part of the St. Bernard Parish School Board since 2000; and is currently entering his 17th year at N. P. Trist Middle School.  This year he is continuing to teach 6th grade English/Language Arts (ELA) to the students enrolled in the honors program.  Robert is committed to teaching reading and writing at a level that is to benefit the students, and provide them with the opportunity to show growth during the school year.

Having graduated from the University of Maryland's College of Education with a major in ELA, Robert implements proven strategies that are effective as long as his students work to their highest ability level, and never give up.  For him, teaching reading is a family passion for both him and his wife, Denise, who also instructs ELA at Chalmette High School.

When not working, Robert enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family, and cheering for the Saints and LSU athletics.  His daughter, Noel, is now a graduate of LSU health and specializes as an RN at Oschner Main Campus in the pediatric ICU facility.

He hopes his students and parents will communicate and connect with him whenever they feel the need.
