Mrs. Monica Unruch

My name is Mrs. Monica Unruch and I am excited to be teaching Spanish at Chalmette High School. I am from Honduras and have been teaching for over 15 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your child a new language and culture. The program is standards-based and emphasizes real-life communication to motivate students to master the Spanish language. The goal is to build students’ knowledge and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures throughout the world by using an integrated approach that practices reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I set high expectations for my students. Therefore, I expect them to develop a love and genuine interest for the subject, a dedication to learning it, the responsibility and self-discipline to follow the rigorous academic pace, and readiness to carry out the tasks required to achieve the objectives of the course. I strive to create an encouraging environment that allows students to overcome their fears of communicating in a foreign language by providing them with an atmosphere of learning and self-discovery in order to achieve proficiency.
