Mrs. Kelly McCartney

Hello, This is Mrs. McCartney. She is looking forward to a wonderful year with your child.  She teaches IBCA (Introduction to Business Computer Application).  She offers several certifications in her class (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SP2 and OSHA) as well as others in the Business Department.  These certifications help our students when they are looking for a job, college, or any endeavor in life.  Mrs. McCartney has been teaching at Chalmette High School since 2004 and is a certified mentor in the FBLA program.  This program teaches high school students to think ahead and to plan for their careers.  It also makes them think outside of their world.  She was chosen to attend cooperative workshops in New York to further develop her business and leadership skills.  Mrs. McCartney is certified in Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Customer Service. She graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College with a bachelor's degree.  She ran a small successful boutique for several years in New Orleans, but eventually realized that she wanted to do something where she was giving back to her community and change young people's lives in a positive way.  She then decided to teach.  When she is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  Mrs. McCartney is a life-long resident of St. Bernard Parish and lives in Old Arabi with her family.  She is also a civic advocate, and the proud owner of several small businesses, which span from jewelry design, business consulting, home design consulting, multi-media consulting, and personal styling and personal shopping for select clients.  She also uses her experiences such as being sent on numerous buying trips for retail establishments and being showcased in some of her own design shows in New York, to hopefully inspire her students and expose them to other interesting facets of business and life in general.
