Mrs. Ables Guerrere

Welcome to Mrs. Guerrere's class! She is thrilled to work closely with both students and parents to craft an enriching school experience.

Mrs. Guerrere grew up in Henderson, Louisiana, a small town about 10 miles east of Lafayette.  In high school, she was an avid member of speech and debate, earning a place at nationals three times, serving as the President of her team for two years, and graduating as the 3rd best ranked speaker in the state. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Centenary College of Louisiana and her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of New Orleans.  After college, she joined the Peace Corps and taught English language learners in Romania for two years. Mrs. Guerrere taught 9th grade English for three years; this is her second year teaching English IV and her first year teaching Speech I. She is thrilled to be able to share her passion for public speaking in her new elective class.

Daughter of a retired public school librarian, Mrs. Guerrere was raised with a passion for books and learning that she hopes to instill in all of her students. She believes reading and writing can truly change a person's life by deepening awareness of oneself, others, and the world. She cannot imagine having a more rewarding, challenging, or meaningful career.

Outside of teaching, Mrs. Guerrere enjoys cuddling with her dogs, Goochi and Gremlin, and playing board games with her husband, Mike.  Some of her favorite books in the class library include: The Spoken Word Revolution, All the King’s Men, and Salvage the Bones.
