Mrs. Haynie teaches 8th Grade Mathematics at St. Bernard Middle School where she has spent the majority of her 17 year career in education and was named Teacher of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year. She is a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish and is a proud product of the St. Bernard Parish Public School System. Upon graduating from Andrew Jackson High School, she went on to earn both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of New Orleans.
From engaging lessons inside the classroom to connecting student learning to the world outside of the classroom, Mrs. Haynie's enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning are what drives her to hold her students to the highest standard in preparation for high school. While she recognizes that Mathematics is a subject that can be challenging for many, she seeks to inspire students to push themselves to meet the academic challenges they face.
In Mrs. Haynie's classroom not only will students be challenged, they will be provided with a multitude of opportunities to explore new topics, engage in scholarly discourse, solve complex problems and interact collaboratively with others to maximize thinking and learning. Mrs. Haynie hopes to create a well rounded learning experience where students build character and become lifelong learners.
