Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Oenes is a 7th and 8th grade science teacher at St. Bernard Middle School. She graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence Education. While at UW-Milwaukee, Ms. Oenes worked as a Head Teacher at the UWM Children’s Learning Center and loved her experience there. She has a passion for teaching that drives her instruction every day.
She works to create a classroom where every student feels valued, supported and empowered. Ms. Oenes hopes to inspire students to become more interested in the field of science and the world around them. She believes that science develops communication skills, patience, and perseverance. She also believes that Science works to motivate students to become advocates for the big problems in the world today.
Ms. Oenes is originally from Appleton, Wisconsin and is extremely excited to be teaching in St. Bernard Parish. She loves the sense of community that she experiences working in St. Bernard. She enjoys swimming, reading, nature and live music. She is a St. Bernard Parish Middle School swim coach and also helps coach the Spring Swim Club for 3rd through 8th graders at Chalmette High School.
