High School Literacy

1. Read! Read! Read!

• Read an online article for 30 minutes, a blog, or a magazine.
• From a chosen book, write a character summary of the most villainous character in the story.
• Select two to five "other world" maps illustrated in popular fantasy books, like Lord of the Rings.
  • Prepare a step-by-step script of directions for drawing each map

2. Research

• Research several career opportunities for when you graduate high school.  
  • What training and/or schooling is required to be part of this career choice?
  • What is the starting salary?
  • Is there room for advancement?

3. Write about it!

• Reflect on your year/years in high school. What are your best memories?
• What is one class you wish the high school program would offer?  
• Create a notebook for journaling.
  • Journaling is a great way to express your feelings and emotions.
