Letter from the Principal
Hey There, Pelicans!
Friday, August 6th- 1st day for grades1-5
Friday, August 6th and Monday August 9th- kindergarten students will be assigned specific time to come meet with their teachers
Tuesday, August 10th- 1st day of kindergarten
Wednesday, August 18th and Thursday August 19th- Pre-k students will be assigned specific time to come meet with their teacher
Friday, August 20th- First day for Pre-K students
Car Riders: Students may arrive on campus beginning at 8:05 A.M. All car riders must follow the car rider line and be dropped off at the designated car rider location. Under no circumstance should a child be dropped off in any of our front parking lots. Car riders must arrive by 8:20 A.M. in order to eat breakfast. Parents will not be allowed to walk their child in the building, with the exception of the first day of school.
Bust Riders: Please check the enclosed bus route to determine which bus your child will rider and where they must wait for the bus. In order to avoid confusion, please put your child on the bus the first morning of school.
All students can either report to the cafeteria to pick up a grab-n-go breakfast or report directly to their classrooms.
All students are expected to arrive on the first day of school in full uniform. Uniforms are required for all students. Please refer to the St. Bernard Parish Uniform Policy prior to purchasing school uniforms. Stores may advertise articles of clothing as “uniforms”; however, they may not meet the district uniform policy. Please do not let them sell you ny items that are hooded. They are no authorized elementary wear!
Open House Supply Drop-off:
Open House and Supply Drop-off will be help on Wenesday August 4, 2021. Bring your child’s supplies and meet their teachers. Spirit Shop will be open during this time. There will be four sessions, so parents with more than one child can visit all teachers.
Doors open- 4:00 PM
Session 1- 4:15 PM
Session 2- 4:45 PM
Session 3- 5:15 PM
Session 4-5:45 PM
Closing Announcements- 6:15 PM
Classroom assignments will be given to parents and students at Open House Supply Drop-off Night. For those of you who cannot make it, teachers and staff members will be directing students to the appropriate classrooms as they arrive on campus the first day of school.
JCAMPUS & Grades:
Parents may utilize the Student Progress Center (which will replace the Home Access Center) to progress monitor their child’s learning by visiting www.spbsb.org/grades or visiting our school or district website. The JCAMPUS Students Progress Center will give parents quick access to current information regarding to your child’s schedule, attendance, class work, interim progress report, report card grades, test scores, and registration information.
Transportation tags: Your Child will be given a transportation tag that will include how he/she is to get home daily. The tag will be placed on your child’s school bag on the first day of school. Please DO NOT remove this tag from your child’s school bag. It is very important that this transportation tag stays on the entire school year.
Transportation changes: Transportation changes cannot be made over the telephone. This is for the safety and protection of your child.
The Spirit Shop will be available through the order form that was sent home in the mail out information as well as on the “For Families” tab on our school’s website. We will be selling our Joseph J. Dacies Elementary spirit shirts, sweatshirts, masks, pencil cases, and earbuds that may be a part of your child’s supply list. The spirit shirts may be worn on Friday with navy or khaki uniform bottoms.
