    December 8, 2020 UPDATE

    Hybrid Students

    • Beginning January 4 through May 24, the school day will be extended by 14 minutes. The CHS school day will be 7:30am – 2:44pm.
    • The fall semester has been extended to January 15.
    • Students will remain on a hybrid schedule until the first day of the spring semester, January 19.
    • There will be no Zoom days in January. Group B will report on campus on January 8 and Group A will report on campus on January 15.
    • Exams for hybrid students will be taken January 12-15.

             Thursday, January 14—Group B—1st and 3rd period exams

             Friday, January 15—Group A—1st and 3rd period exams

    Virtual Students

    • The last day to complete virtual coursework for the fall semester is January 12.
    • LEAP Exams for Virtual Students:

             Thursday, January 7—Virtual—English I

             Monday, January 11—Virtual—Algebra I

             Tuesday, January 12—Virtual—Biology

             Wednesday, January 13—Virtual—US History

     

    Virtual Students Switching to Traditional 5-Day In-Person Learning for the Spring Semester

    Current virtual students who have chosen to switch to the traditional 5-day in-person learning program will report to Chalmette High School in full uniform on January 19, 2021, to begin the new semester. All students must wear a face mask.

    Hybrid Students Switching to the Virtual At-Home Setting for the Spring Semester

    Students who are currently following the hybrid schedule but have chosen to switch to the virtual learning program must continue to attend classes on campus at CHS through January 15, 2021. On January 19, these students will begin their virtual at-home classes through Edgenuity.

     

    CHS Virtual Learning Program

    The virtual learning program will begin on Monday, August 17, 2020. Students will complete all coursework through the third-party provider, Edgenuity. CHS teachers have been identified as “monitors” of virtual learning in order to monitor student progress to ensure students are on pace to finish all coursework by the end of the semester.

    Students will access Edgenuity through their Clever accounts. To log into Clever, students will need their Student ID and date of birth. Instructions on how to log into Clever and navigate Edgenuity have been posted here.

    We are still in the process of finalizing virtual schedules. Please wait until Monday to log into Edgenuity and begin course work.  Most students’ virtual schedules mirror their original schedule requests. However, not all CHS electives are offered through the virtual program. Therefore, if your child was set to have an elective for the fall semester, we enrolled him/her into the most closely related virtual course.

    While virtual students do not have set hours to log into the program, it is important that each child works each day to maintain the necessary pace to finish the class on time.

    Our CHS teachers are continuing to make phone calls daily to parents of virtual students. If you have not already spoken to a CHS teacher regarding virtual learning, you should expect to hear from a CHS teacher sometime next week. 

    At the end of the semester, your child's Edgenuity grade will be added to his/her CHS transcript.

    Devices and Internet Access

    If your child is in need of a chromebook or internet access, you may pick up a device between 3:00-4:00pm next Monday-Wednesday, August 17-19. Please drive up to the front office main entrance and remain in your car. 

    Meal Program

    As a St. Bernard Parish Public Schools student, your virtual student is eligible to receive both a breakfast and lunch each day. You may pick up these meals on either CHS campus Monday-Thursday from 8:30-10:30am and Friday 7:30-9:30am. On the Academy, you can park in the back parking lot and walk along the sidewalk to the side entrance to the cafeteria. On the Main Campus, park in the football stadium parking lot and walk up to the cafeteria receiving door on Palmisano.
