Ms. Cheryl L. Damond

Ms. Damond was born and raised in St. Bernard Parish.  She discovered her passion for mathematics during her years at St. Bernard High School through the teachings of Mrs. Julie Ginart. She attended Southern University of New Orleans where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies and has certifications in Special Education and Middle Mathematics through Teach St. Bernard alternative program.  Ms. Damond worked as a para-educator in the St. Bernard Parish Public school system from 2005-2011 and began teaching 6th grade Mathematics at Trist Middle School in 2014. Ms. Damond was N.P. Trist 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year. In 2023, she received her Louisiana Mentor Certification to mentor new teachers. In May 2018, she received the Excellence in Education Award from the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc. Alpha Theta Chapter. Her objective is to create an engaging and stimulating learning environment for her students as she strives to accelerate their learning progress through differentiating to meet the needs of all learners. She looks forward to forging a meaningful relationship with you and your child and an open dialogue to enhance your child’s success in mathematics this school year.
