What is P-EBT for K-12 students?
The Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) Program was created in Spring 2020 to provide funds for families to buy food while schools were closed due to COVID-19. More P-EBT funds are being issued for the 2020-21 school year and will be available this summer.
Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) Program Cards
Parents of students in the St. Bernard Parish School System who attended Chalmette High School in the hybrid (a combination of computer-based and in-person learning) or fully virtual (by computer) learning situation during the 2020-2021 school year or those in the elementary or middle grades who attended our fully virtual program will receive a Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) Program card for each eligible child from the Department of Children and Family Services. Each eligible child will have a separate P-EBT card issued in their name, and the cards will be mailed to the address parents have provided to the school.
Activation Number Needed: Parents of students in the St. Bernard Parish School System with eligible children will receive an email on Monday, June 14, 2021 containing the number needed to activate the P-EBT card when it is received.
According to the Department of Children and Family Services, P-EBT benefits will be issued in installments in the Summer of 2021, and due to the number of cards being issued, it may take several weeks for parents to receive their child’s card.
These cards are being issued by the Department of Children and Family Services and not by the St. Bernard Parish School System.
