Tuition Assistance Program

  • The St. Bernard Parish Public School System is committed to increasing the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders. Through Title II funding, the Tuition Assistance Program focuses on raising student achievement by improving the quality of instruction and leadership within our school buildings.

    Pathways Funded

    • Add-On Certification in a High Needs Area or Critical Shortage Area
    • Education Leadership I Certification


    • Applicants must be a certified teacher. Non-certified teachers or practitioners enrolled in alternate certification programs are not eligible.
    • Applicants must be employed as a teacher for the semester they are applying for tuition exemption.


    • Complete the Tuition Assistance Application. 
    • Send the application to your supervisor for approval.
    • Applications will only be accepted during the respective windows.
    • Please do not send applications for multiple semesters at once - applications will be approved on a semester basis. 


    • Spring Semester Application Deadline: November 15
    • Summer Application Deadline: April 15
    • Fall Application Deadline: June 15


    • Supervisor must approve the employee’s application for tuition exemption.
    • Applications must be emailed to before the indicated deadline. 
    • Reimbursments may be declined if an employee receives a grade below C.
    • Courses meeting the appropriate participant categories listed above may be approved for tuition assistance funds. These funds may not be used specifically for coursework needed to increase overall grade point average for acceptance into a teacher education program.


    • Requests for reimbursement must be submitted using the form provided on this website. 
    • Requests for reimbursement must be made by the deadline provided. Those requests submitted on-time and with all the necessary information should receive their funds within 30 days of the deadline.
    • Fees are not reimbursable under this program. Employees are still subject to pay all fees associated with the courses they are enrolled in. 

    Employment Commitment

    • Receiving tuition reimbursement through the Tuition Assistance program requires a two-year employment commitment upon receiving the desired certificate and/or degree. If employment is severed at any point prior to the end of the two-year commitment, the employee will be required to pay back the tuition reimbursement you have received.
