Letter from the Principal
Dear Smith Families,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! Once again, I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, a dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to support the students and families especially during this time of uncertainty due to the effects of the pandemic and the proposed purchase of the land on which Smith presently sits.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for over thirty years as a teacher, facilitator, assistant principal and principal. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to Smith and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success!
Education works best when it is positive, focused and strategic; therefore, my staff and I plan to continue to implement strategies that meet the unique needs of our students. Above all, I believe all of my students can master grade level concepts. In keeping with our districts's theme of Unity, I also believe relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of the students. Though we may have challenges, I strongly encourage you to become involved in every possible way. I look forward to connecting with you soon.
