Mr. Scallan is entering his 48th year of teaching in St. Bernard Parish.  Most of his teaching career has been spent teaching third grade.  Mr. Scallan began his teaching career at Borgnemouth Elementary in 1975.  After Hurricane Katrina, he began teaching third grade at Andrew Jackson Elementary in 2006.  From there, Mr. Scallan began teaching third grade at Davies Elementary in 2010 to present day.

  During his 48 years of teaching, Mr. Scallan was honored as being named teacher of the year 3 times.  He always believed that "Students may not remember all that you taught them, but will remember the way that you treated them." He also believes that "The knowledge that the students learned from him is a precious gift that no one can every take away from them."  Mr. Scallan wants to instill a love of learning in all of his students.  He believes that teaching should be engaging and meaningful!

  Mr. Scallan resides in Slidell, Louisiana.  He enjoys  spending time with family and friends, reading, shopping, fishing, and gourmet cooking.
