Summer 2022
Dear Gauthier Families,
As summer begins, I would like to express how grateful I am to be leading such an amazing community of students, parents, faculty and staff. It has been a great school year! This would not have been possible without the support of everyone. It truly takes a village.
I would especially like to thank our hard working and caring faculty and staff who have made a huge difference to our students. Their commitment is outstanding and our students are the beneficiaries. They deserve many accolades for providing rich and engaging experiences and fostering curiosity, along with development of social skills needed to succeed. For these, and a million other things, I am truly grateful.
We are very fortunate to have made so many great memories and have had such wonderful events to look back on. We celebrated our Terrific Kids each month. We honored our students who had perfect attendance and/or were on the honor roll quarterly. We awarded our students who met their quarterly Lexia goals with pajama days & our students who met their quarterly AR goals with free dress days. Our students participated in Starbase at Jackson Barracks, learned to swim at the Chalmette High Natatorium, went on visits to the Maumus Center/planetarium, celebrated Literacy Week, enjoyed Spirit Week, participated in Academic Games tournaments and won several medals in the District Special Olympics. Our year ended with wonderful award ceremonies filled with pride and celebration of student accomplishments. We are all very proud of all of our students and their successes.
In closing, I take this opportunity to congratulate all students of J. F. Gauthier Elementary School! I wish you all a very happy, safe and enjoyable summer. Please be sure to take time as family to talk, play and READ together.
Yours truly,
Lisa G. Young
Principal
